“Fruit Bat” Salad
Materials needed:
1-2 Oranges
1-2 Apples
1-2 Peaches
1-2 Bananas
1-2 Pears
Grapes
*Optional: 1 cup of plain yogurt
Steps Making “Fruit Bat” Salad:
Use any combination of the ingredients listed above to make a fun snack for your
“little fruit bats”
1. Cut up fruit into bite sized chunks
2. Mix
3. Add yogurt if desired
Using Activity to Teach:
- Talk to the children before snack about the types of food fruit bats eat.
- Give children butter knifes and allow them to help cut up the fruit (hint: cut the round fruit in half, remove seeds or pit, and lay flat side down on the plate or cutting board before giving to the children to cut)
- Allow children to help pour the chosen ingredients into a bowl and stir to mix
- Promote the learning of social skills by allowing children to serve one another
